59. God is going to give you double for all your suffering.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. {Romans 8:18}

But let’s be honest, as much as we want to think light and talk light, sometimes it just seems like darkness is the only thing that surrounds us. The reality is, it is tough to not be able to see and understand at this moment all that God is doing in and through our suffering.

So when it seems like there could be absolutely nothing good that could ever come from your present circumstances and you just can’t believe that God is working in your situation, hold onto this promise: God is going to give you double for all your suffering.

Psalms says that those who have sown tears will reap shouts of joy. Paul says that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God is going to shower us with blessings. And if you can’t imagine that anything good will ever come again in this world, hold on. There is another world to come where there will be no tears, no death, and no sadness.

Sometimes it seems like suffering and cruelty have had the very last word, but take heart. Sooner than you know, the silence will be broken, and whatever you have gone through in this life, God is going to more than make it up to you. For every burden you have endured, God is going to give you a double blessing. Hold on—everything that you have lost will be returned to you, and then some!
